Battle Harbour, NL, Canada

Battle Harbour is an historic whaling town located on a small island off the coast of Labrador. One of the oldest British settlements in Newfoundland, Battle Harbour was a favorite port for whalers and fishermen and also the base for American explorer Robert Peary. It has been designated a National Historic District and features some wonderfully restored buildings, where more than 500 artifacts from the country's long history are on display. The waters off Battle Harbour abound with humpback, fin and blue whales.
